Keyne-O

If you are used to taking part in our Keyne-O series of events, then welcome! We would recommend Course 7 as being closest to a regular Amble, and Course 6 as similar to a Trot. If you prefer the Run then Course 2 might be about the right length.

Unless you are an individual in the correct age class for the course you want to run, then please enter choosing e.g. "Course 6" from the dropdown list of available age classes. Email the Organiser if you're not sure.

Leagues

This event is part of SEOUL (Southern England Orienteering Urban League) and EAUL (East Anglian Urban League). Please ensure you enter the right course for your age class if you want to be competitive in the leagues.

SI Cards and Course 1

Course 1 (Men Open) has 32 controls, which means that SI-Card 5 (1-499999, including our regular hire cards) and SI-Card 8 (2000000-2999999) will not hold sufficient punches. If your own SI-Card is from one of these early series, or you need to hire because you don't own an SI-Card, please hire a SIAC card.

Competitors on other courses needing to hire an SI-Card can choose whether to pay slightly more for a SIAC card, which provides contactless punching and saves a couple of seconds at each control.

Terrain and Map

The terrain is a mix of open park, small pockets of woodland, and classic urban running.

Map: 1:5,000 A3 (courses 1-6) and A4 (course 7). Mapped to ISSprOM (Sprint) standard. Play equipment is mapped ×, picnic tables and information boards ○.

Control descriptions will be printed on the map and loose descriptions available in start boxes.

Electronic (SI) controls will be used, with contactless punching enabled. Punching start and finish.

Safety

Course 6 is not suitable for children under 12 (unless accompanied by a responsible adult). This course has been planned to minimise road crossings, but includes some urban running where there may be slow-moving traffic (eg across entrances to driveways). The course will include one marshalled road crossing, plus another crossing of a cul-de-sac with limited, slow moving traffic. Please remind your juniors to look both ways and make sure it is clear before crossing any road.

Course 7 has no road crossings and is suitable for orienteers of all ages. However, children on this course should be warned that:

Please be courteous to other competitors and the general public at all times.

Dogs

Please keep dogs on leads at all times around the car park and assembly area. Dogs are not allowed to accompany competitors on courses, except courses 6 and 7, where they are permitted if kept on leads and under close control.
