Our Summer MapRun League series returns this year making use of the fantastic forest at Aspley Heath and culminating in an event at our 40th Anniversary party (venue TBC). There will be five events over the summer months each offering a 'long' course (approx. 5km) and 'short' course (approx. 2.5km). We publish a fun league with prizes awarded after the final event.
These events are a great way to practice your orienteering skills and discover this fun, challenging outdoor adventure sport.
For more details of how to use the MapRun app, see our MapRun page. We will publish more details of each event closer to the date including where and when to meet and which MapRun course to download to your phone. (Phone signal is very poor at Aspley Heath so it is best to come prepared with the course already downloaded.) This year the control locations will also be marked with small taped markers to help you know you are in the right place even if your GPS signal takes a while to catch up! If you would like to reserve a printed map then please email Freya - Freya.askham@btinternet.com before each event.
The courses will still be available for you to run at any time after the event but you must complete the course on the day of the event for your result to count in the league.
