Our Summer MapRun League series returns this year making use of the fantastic forest at Aspley Heath and culminating in an event at our 40th Anniversary party (venue TBC). There will be five events over the summer months each offering a 'long' course (approx. 5km) and 'short' course (approx. 2.5km). We publish a fun league with prizes awarded after the final event.
These events are a great way to practice your orienteering skills and discover this fun, challenging outdoor adventure sport.
For more details of how to use the MapRun app, see our MapRun page. We will publish more details of each event closer to the date including where and when to meet and which MapRun course to download to your phone. (Phone signal is very poor at Aspley Heath so it is best to come prepared with the course already downloaded.) This year the control locations will also be marked with small taped markers to help you know you are in the right place even if your GPS signal takes a while to catch up! The courses will still be available for you to run at any time after the event but you must complete the course on the day of the event for your result to count in the league.

Third event – Thursday 4 June
This week we will be starting at the top of Church Road, Bow Brickhill for two courses: Short and Long.
We will be using the MapRun app technology but with the addition of control sites marked with a streamer of red & white tape. Please bring a compass if you have one (we will have some available to borrow). Full leg cover is advised.
IMPORTANT: You may want to download the course you wish to run to your MapRun App before you arrive at the car park as there is very little phone signal.
You will find the courses in the folder UK/South Midlands/Summer MapRun Series 2026 the event names will be be Aspley 2026 Event 3 Long or Short.
These will be available on the morning of the event.
Where: Park at the carpark at the top of Church Road, Bow Brickhill, Milton Keynes MK17 9LF, What3Words ///life.edge.desire. Meeting point is at ///target.skills.cliff - head into the woods to find us.
When: Starts from 6.30-7.00pm. Please return to the finish by 8pm.
There will be help available for those new to MapRun and new to orienteering too.
