Maprunner is run by a member of Hertfordshire Orienteering
Club. It has a downloadable guide to control descriptions and some games to help you learn and remember the different symbols.
Routegadget is a brilliant resource that is a database
of UK maps and results. When going to an area you haven't been to before, have a look at Routegadget to see maps from
previous events. Orienteers who have a GPS tracking watch can upload their actual route to superimpose it on the course
map. This is useful to see where you might have gone wrong, and you can also see where the faster competitors went
and learn from their route choices. Routegadget has other functionality, see the website for more information and
instructions on using it.
World of O, for international orienteering news and maps from
around the world.
The Route Choice Game is great for mental
training for sprint orienteering where the ability to choose a route quickly can save valuable time.
Running Wild is another online training tool where you can draw your route onto a map and compare with other routes to see which is shortest.
Catching Features is an orienteering simulation game where you can practise your orienteering skills by "running" courses in the game. Courses range from actual
World Championship courses to novelty events. Catching Features is used by world class orienteers and is a great way to train your orienteering brain whenever you want to.
