Times

Registration opens at 10:00. You can start any time up to 12:00, although please try to start before 11:30 unless you know you'll be fast. A 5km orienteering course takes a lot longer than a 5km parkrun! Courses close at 13:00.

Don't forget to download, even if you retire.

Entry

This event is entry on the day only. We expect to be able to take card payments and to offer entry by dibber for those who have their own.

Courses

Amble 2.3km. Uses paths and fields within the local area. Not very difficult. Avoids all roads. Suitable for orienteers of all ages.

Trot 5.0km. Moderately difficult with extensive urban orienteering. Not suitable for unaccompanied under 16s.

Run 6.6km. Longer and with more navigational challenges, including extensive urban sections. Not suitable for unaccompanied under 16s.

Electronic (SI) controls will be used, with mini kites. Contactless punching enabled. Punching start. pCards and SI cards will be available to hire for those who don't have their own dibbers.

Control descriptions will be printed on the map. Loose control descriptions will not be provided.

Map and Terrain

Benches are not mapped. Avenues of trees adjacent to roads are mapped as white, even if the canopy is not continuous.

The Milton Keynes grid roads have heavy and fast-moving traffic. They are marked as out of bounds on the map. Do not attempt to cross any road marked out of bounds other than by the underpasses or bridges marked on the map. Traffic on other roads is generally light.

Courses may have possible routes along some of the Milton Keynes redways. These redways are used by pedestrians, cyclists, electric scooters, delivery robots and occasionally horses. Please be careful of the fast-moving bikes and scooters, and be courteous to all users.

Other Information

Please keep dogs on leads at all times around the assembly area. Dogs are allowed on the Amble course.

The Trot and Run courses cross numerous roads and competitors should be alert to traffic at all crossings.

Please take extra care to be courteous to members of the public at all times. This is a popular area and we have no more right to enjoy it than any other visitors.
