Local event - Great Linford

Sunday 28thApril 2024

Orienteering is an outdoor sport that exercises both your body and your mind. The aim is to navigate yourself from point to point round a course using a specially prepared orienteering map.

The event will take place around Great Linford, all courses will visit Manor Park and Stonepit Fields; the longer courses will also sample the delights of the local estates.

You can take part in a group or as an individual and you set your own pace. Our participants range from families with pushchairs through to speedy runners. Get your teenagers active or just enjoy a walk with a difference.

Our volunteer club members will be on hand to help you with the map before you set off and check you in when you finish.

Courses

Amble 3km

Very straightforward. Suitable for complete novices, whatever their level of fitness. Does not cross any roads.

Trot 5km

Suitable both for fit adult beginners and those with a little experience who want to go a bit further. Also good for more experienced orienteers who want a run or walk that is not too demanding. This course crosses a few minor roads. All competitors on this course must be aged 16 or over (unless accompanied by an adult),

Run 7.1km

A longer course that is an extensive tour of the area, only suitable for fit and reasonably experienced orienteers. All competitors on this course must be aged 16 or over (unless accompanied by an adult), as routes will include numerous estate road crossings

Course lengths are the shortest practicable distance, not the straight line distance between controls.
