The fifth in a series of informal orienteering events suitable for beginners, more experienced orienteers and runners. The courses cover the area around the Willen lakes including the peace pagoda and tree cathedral.

If you haven't tried orienteering before, someone will be available to explain the basics and point you in the right direction. Entry is on the day so no need to pre-enter. No special equipment is needed - just wear whatever you would for a walk or run in the park.

Courses

Amble

2.9km

Very straightforward. Suitable for complete novices, whatever their level of fitness. Does not cross any roads.

Trot

4.3km

Suitable for confident navigators of all ages. Does not cross any roads.

Short Run

5.3km

Similar to Trot but with a small number of road crossings and is not suitable for unaccompanied juniors under 16.

Run

7.1km

A longer course that is an extensive tour of the area, only suitable for fit and reasonably experienced orienteers. Crosses a few roads and is not suitable for unaccompanied juniors under 16.

Controls and Map

Electronic (SI) timing will be used for start and finish, with mini-kites and traditional pin punches out on course. Please bring your SI card if you have one.

Maps: A4 waterproof maps with overprint. Map scale for all courses is 1:10,000.

Times

Starts from 10.00 to 12.00 for Amble, Trot and Short Run, 10:00 to 11:30 for Run. Courses close 13:00.

Parking is at Peace Pagoda Car Park, Brickhill Street, Milton Keynes. Postcode MK15 0BG. Normal car parking charges apply.

Other Information

There are no toilets at this event.

Well-behaved dogs are permitted. Please keep them on a lead.

Future Events

Our next event is the Buckingham Urban race on Sunday 11 August. A range of courses will be available, including child-friendly courses similar to those available at Keyne-O.

The popular Keyne-O Collector Cards will again be available this year. Each Keyne-O run earns you a sticker. Collect stickers to earn medals and prizes.
