The final in our series of informal orienteering events suitable for beginners, more experienced orienteers and runners. The courses cover Shenley Wood, with longer courses also visiting the surrounding urban areas.
If you haven't tried orienteering before, someone will be available to explain the basics and point you in the right direction. Entry is on the day so no need to pre-enter. No special equipment is needed - just wear whatever you would for a walk or run in the park.
|Amble||2.1km||Very straightforward. Suitable for complete novices, whatever their level of fitness. Does not cross any roads.|
|Trot||4.0km||A slightly harder course than Amble. Does not cross any roads.|
|Short Run||4.1km||Similar to Run but shorter. Not suitable for unaccompanied juniors under 16 as it crosses roads.|
|Run||6.2km||A longer course that is an extensive tour of the area, only suitable for fit and reasonably experienced orienteers. Not suitable for unaccompanied juniors under 16. Double-sided map.|
Electronic (SI) timing will be used for start and finish, with mini-kites and traditional pin punches out on course. Please bring your SI card if you have one.
Maps: A4 waterproof maps with overprint. Map scale is 1:5,000.
Starts from 10.00 to 12.00 for Amble, Trot and Short Run, 10:00 to 11:30 for Run. Courses close 13:00.
There are no toilets at this event.
Well-behaved dogs are permitted. Please keep them on a lead.
