Late news

We have acquired 80 SIAC dibbers available to hire (many thanks to our friends at TVOC). As the event is nearly upon us we will be making these available for hire at the event on the day only, not via Fabian4. SIAC hire will be 2.00. Please note that there will be a replacement charge of 63 if a SIAC is lost or not returned. Please come along to Registration to hire.

If you have pre-entered and already arranged to hire a SI dibber, you can upgrade to SIAC for an extra 1.00. This can be done at registration.

Please try and bring the correct money on the day if possible.

SMOC's next major event will be an urban event in Buckingham. The event is part of the UK Urban League, Southern England Orienteering Urban League and EA Urban League.

This level C Urban event is also part of our regular 'Keyne-O' series and as such has courses suitable for people who are completely new to orienteering, including juniors and families, as well as a full range of Urban courses.

Car parking is free on Sundays at Cornwalls Meadows Car Park off Buckingham High Street. Please do not attempt to park at assembly (the football club). Nearest postcode: MK18 1RP
GR SP698340
what3words: microchip.winning.nimbly

In the event that Cornwalls Meadow Car Park is full there is further car parking at Western Avenue Car Park (MK18 1HP) and parking is also available in the layby near the top of Stratford Road.

Public transport

The Stagecoach X5 is an inter-urban bus service linking Oxford and Cambridge via Bicester, Buckingham, Milton Keynes, Bedford and St Neots stopping 10 minutes walk from assembly in Buckingham. The Sunday service frequency is every 30 minutes. Various railway connections to this service are available.
Beware that Sunday rail services can be affected by maintenance - check before your journey.

Assembly is at Buckingham Athletic Football Club (MK18 1NY), less than 10 minutes walk from the car park. To get to assembly from the car park cross the pedestrian bridge across the Great Ouse river, turn left and follow the path along the river (north east) to cross the next pedestrian bridge and then turn left past the football pitches to assembly. Please give way to runners.
No parking at assembly.

There are two public toilets in the Cornwalls Meadow Car Park, toilets at the football club. First Aid will be at or near Assembly

Beginners welcome. Help will be available for those new to orienteering.

Keyne-O regulars

If you regularly do 'Amble', the equivalent course is course 7. The equivalent of 'Trot' is course 6. If you normally do 'Run' we recommend you enter the course appropriate for your age class.

Electronic (SI) timing will be used. Please bring your SI card if you have one. Don't worry if you haven't used SI before - we will explain the basics to you before you set out on your course.

Start and Finish

The start and finish are located fairly close to Assembly. Please follow the marked routes on the way to the start. When returning from the finish, give way to runners crossing the pedestrian bridges.
Loose control descriptions will be available in Start lanes.

A mixture of urban and parkland. Shorts may be worn.

Out of Bounds

Competitors must comply with the following symbols for Uncrossable and Out Of Bounds features. Please ensure you are familiar with these symbols. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

Out of bounds

The Buckingham Ring Road including verges and pathways is strictly out of bounds. It is on the perimeter of the map and courses have been planned to avoid it.
Only cross the river - and other water features marked with a solid outline - using mapped bridges.
Accessible areas have been mapped as accurately as possible, but please apply courtesy and common sense - if it looks like somebody's front lawn, then it probably is!

Map surveyed and drawn by Steve Hardy, Robert Dove and Freya Askham
Maps will be A3 printed on waterproof material
Map Scale 1:5000; contour interval 2.5m, north line spacing 200m
ISSOM 2007 symbols will be used.

Not allowed in the Football Club. Permitted on courses at owners' risk under appropriate control for an urban area. Ensure you clear up after your dog.

Car keys may be left at Registration.
Please remember, much of the surrounding area used for this event is residential. There will be pedestrians, cyclists and dog walkers around the courses. Please be courteous to other users of this area.
Take care crossing roads and other areas with vehicular traffic.
Please take care particularly when running around blind corners.
Be aware there is a river at the heart of the orienteering area. Younger competitors should be warned to stay away. Controls will not be located close to the water.

Results will be posted on http://www.smoc.info

We would like to thank Buckingham Town Council and Buckingham University for permission to use their land and Buckingham Athletic Club for permission to use their facilities.
