SMOC's next major event will be an urban event in Buckingham. The event is part of the UK Urban League, Southern England Orienteering Urban League and EA Urban League.

This event is also part of our regular 'Keyne-O' series and as such has courses suitable for people who are completely new to orienteering, including juniors and families, as well as a full range of Urban courses.

Public tranport

Buckingham is on the Stagecoach X5 bus service linking Oxford and Cambridge via Bicester, Buckingham, Milton Keynes, Bedford and St Neots

Assembly

Assembly is at Buckingham Athletic Football Club less than 10 minutes walk from the car park.
Registration, hired dibber collection, enquiries and download will be inside the Football Club. Facilities: Toilets, water, and First Aid will be located at or next to assembly.
Map: 1:5,000 scale for all courses. Remapped 2018/19.

Terrain

Senior courses will be a mixture of urban and parkland. Junior courses will stay mainly within the park area. Shorts may be worn on all courses.

SportIdent punching will be used. SI card hire: 1.
Lost cards will incur a 30 replacement charge

It is a BOF requirement that anybody younger than 16 on the day can only run courses 6 or 7 due to road crossings.
Beginners welcome. Help will be available for those new to orienteering.

Keyne-O regulars

If you regularly do 'Amble', the equivalent course is course 7. The equivalent of 'Trot' is course 6. If you normally do 'Run' we recommend you enter the course appropriate for your age class. Electronic (SI) timing will be used for start and finish, with mini-kites and traditional pin punches out on course. Please bring your SI card if you have one. Not allowed in the Football Club. Permitted on courses at owners' risk. Please ensure you clear up after your dog.
