National Trust Stowe - 12th August 2018

Regional Middle Distance Event

Online Entries Closed - Plenty of Maps for EOD Final Details

'Stowe is composed of very beautiful and very picturesque spots chosen to represent different kinds of scenery. The master and creator of this superb domain has also erected ruins, temples and ancient buildings, like the scenes, exhibit a magnificence which is more than human' (Jean-Jacques Rousseau)

Take this unique opportunity to explore the stunning landscape gardens of National Trust Stowe, one of the most remarkable legacies of Georgian England, created by Viscount Cobham in the grounds of his family home from 1717. To make best use of the gardens and to provide an appropriate challenge this is a middle distance event.

The event will include courses suitable for everyone and beginners are welcome. We would especially like to see lots of our Keyne-O regulars coming along. Help and advice on suitable courses will be available at registration.

Terrain

All courses remain within the Eastern side of the Stowe landscape gardens which contain a surprising variety of terrain including rough pastures, intricate planting, occasional patches of woodland and well manicured lawns. There are numerous follies, statues, arches, temples and columns to maintain interest. Expect fast running with rather more interest than a 'run in the park'. The main challenges are route choice and accurate navigation at speed rather than technical orienteering.
